Current Location: Rangoon, Burma
I've been residing here since June 2001. Shuttling back and forth to Manila twice a year. What a place! What a country! It's a City within a Garden. Food is cheap, fruits and vegetables are abundant and fresh most of the time. Most of all, it's rich in fresh air! If New York is the city that never sleeps then Rangoon is the city that has slept its way to eternity.
Sport: Badminton, Volleyball, Jetski (just love cutting through the breeze and the coldness of the sea)
A breathtaking view of a lake similar to Myanmar's famed Inlay Lake

June is fast approaching. Normally, this is the month when I take my longest leave. Siyempre, sometime middle of this month birthday ko. It's important that I have time for myself on my most special day.
Everytime na uwi ko, I consider it a good chance to get in touch with old, childhood friends from high school ,college and kasama na rin ang mga former airline colleagues and bosses sa ****. It is also a moment to share each other's experiences.
Pero the feeling of being like a visitor in your own home...feels different specially when you've been away for long. My mom and some relatives, take note! yung iba lang!... will invite and offer to dine out or kung hindi nagluluto sila for me.
Looking forward to see the new and old malls alike, pero sa hirap ng Pilipinas ngayon at hirap ng pera, nagdadalawang isip na akong mamili pa. Window shopping na lang. Wala pang bayad. Mas excited pa kong sumama sa palengke sa Divisoria para magbuhat ng mga pinamamalengke tuwing Sundays. At!!! hindi ako "DON" pag uwi ko sa bahay, I wash my own dishes and just go around town commuting sa jeepney. Mahirap ng mapagkamalang mayaman at makidnap.
Noong mga nakaraang buwan, I was thinking of buying a pair of Aviator sunglasses pag-uwi. Di ko alam, suddenly, I have been fancying to collect sporty sunglasses, not necessarily the European brands. I always prefer those from Adidas and Nike. Ayoko ng mga Ferragamo, Givenchy, Versace, atbp.
As the flight date approaches, a lot of things are coming into my mind. Those that relate to work and personal matters. There's even the urge to travel back to the US. When I went there last year, mentally I was fully charged, but financially, I got drained...but it feels rewarding lalo na dream come true to be there. Right now, considering the amount I will spend kung US, ticket pa lang mapapaisip ka na, kaya China is also an alternative nowadays para cheaper. But who knows, domestic travel might prove more fun at pinakaura. I've been to Baguio, La Union, Pangasinan, Quezon, siyempre Laguna, Cavite, Batangas at Bulacan...all are in Luzon.
Hmmm...lean season kaya sa Palawan by June? On the otherhand I have not seen Boracay. Let us see where my mind will direct my feet to go.

Thingyan Festival is just around the corner. Residents of Myanmar, foreigners and locals alike will be donning their new apparels, trendy, hippy, disco, rock n' roll fashion out there in the streets.
The streets will be filled once again with cars and people, bodies drenched with water under the scorching heat of the summer sun. The whole city/nation will look like as if it has risen from a long, deep sleep. There will be nonstop blowing of horns, dancing and bodies strutting on top of pickup trucks.
It's this season of the year that people dress up and show their fashion sense. Getting wet in leather boots, rubber shoes, body hugging jeans and coats. Sorry, no bikinis in this conservative state. Some will just dress normal with their traditional "sarongs" or longyis. From children as small as 6yrs old til granny's in their 80's. See how thousands of people flash their heartfelt smiles and enjoy the revelry amidst the pressing poverty. Not much different from us, Pinoys. "Kahit mahirap na, nakatawa pa."
For this particular festival, I decided to have my left ear pierced, finally. It was done last 4th of April. Something I had been planning years ago. Just not sure how I'm going to look with it and luckily I had Mickel and Rinna to accompany me to the salon. Good friends they really are, Mickel went ahead but kept mum about it and refusing to tell me it was painful until my turn had finished....arrghh. Nevertheless, it was an experience. Hope the hole stays open and doesn't close because I would not want to go through the pain of the "gun" that pierced the earring again.
I heard that in Manila, this is the "in" thing nowadays and... both ears!!! Unless I will the pursue the career change I have in mind, you might catch me already with a pair by that time.
Right now, it's covered with a strip of plaster. Comfortable it may seem, but I had to endure some pain in the first 3 days specially when my shirt hits the earlobe while changing. Some staff might wonder what's underneath. An automatic reply will be..."mousebite" just like Mickel's. For the smart ones, it may not sound impressive.
In any case, I can't wait to introduce my new ear to the public. He's been itching to be exposed. Sorry for him, I can only detach him from the plaster before I hit the sack. In the coming days, I would surely encounter a few hundreds of revellers looking like this out of the millions in Yangon, but surely there will just be a handful of us that will standout in the crowd.

With Melanie and Ms. Rangoon 19?
Last December 2005, I went back to the Philippines to have a break from work for 10-short days. Whew!!! It was well worth the trip. Going home for Christmas after 3 long years in Rangoon gave me a big relief and some "physical/mental recharging".
My friend, Tess, Ms. Rangoon 19--?, a Rangoon-based expat had her "edge of her life" experience while we and her friends went to White Rock Beach, Zambales. The jetski capsized and she forgot she would not drown with a lifevest on. It was high tide, the sea was cold and windy at 5:30pm...No amount of words could pacify a panicking woman. She floated and cried because she never thought we would be in a body of water, her feet not touching any surface below. " Hindi ako makalangoy, hindi ako makalangoy, bilis, bilis, HELP!" was all she can say.
Seeing and posing with former Ms. International 1979 and Filipina former Supermodel, Melanie Marquez with her kid, Abraham. For some it would mean "baduy" to pose with a celebrity, but for me, posing with the most beautiful woman in the Philippines and probably one of the world's, is something to be treated more than just a souvenir... It's a privilege.

The Biggest of All Apples
It was fun to know that this day was the premiere of Spiderman I. It looked nice standing there with it as the backdrop with the busy yellow cabs passing by.
